ENGRAVED GOLD BADGE~13th NEW JERSEY HOSPITAL STEWARD @ GETTYSBURG

GOLD & ENAMEL This badge was bought from the family. The lady I purchased the badge from was a Delano and stated that they were related to Franklin Delano Roosevelts Mother, Sara Delano. This would make a great research project! First Regimental 13th New Jersey badge I have ever come across. The top bar is white enamel and reads "13th N.J. VOLS." The pendant is star-shaped, 12th Corps, with red enamel, 1st Division. Reverse is engraved with the name "A. Delano". Albert Delano Residence was not listed; Enlisted on 8/12/1862 as a Private. On 8/25/1862 he mustered into "A" Co. NJ 13th Infantry He was discharged for to enlist in RA on 6/8/1865 On 6/8/1865 he mustered into US Army (date and method of discharge not given) Promotions: * Hospital Steward 8/25/1862 * Hospital Steward 6/8/1865 (As of RA) Intra Regimental Company Transfers: * 8/25/1862 from company A to Field & Staff .
