The 94th New York Infantry was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Colonel Adrian Rowe Root. He was wounded on July 1st, and Major Samuel Moffett took command. The regiment brought 445 men to the field and lost 12 men killed, 58 wounded and 175 captured or missing, most of whom were lost in the fighting on Oak Ridge and the retreat through the town on July 1.
